CommScope RF taps offer flexible installation options and interchangeable housings that allow customers to quickly and easily upgrade their existing units for 1.2 GHz functionality.

The CommScope FFT-Q series equalizable taps offer improved return path performance for advanced two-way HFC systems while maintaining backward compatibility with the previous FFT installed base (back to “F” Series). In addition to mechanical backward compatibility to existing FFT tap housings, we now offer faceplate only options for plant upgrades. The faceplate only option allows the technician to easily upgrade an existing location with a simple faceplate change. This solution provides significant product cost savings, as well as reduced shipment cost, by eliminating unneeded extra housings being built and shipped.

The FFT 1.2 GHz taps continue to come equipped with an auto-seize F-connector which improves system reliability by providing increased drop center conductor clamping force and a greater surface/contact area over standard F-connectors.

For applications that require plant power on the F-port, the FFT faceplate can be replaced with the BTTF F-port power extracting faceplate.

CommScope 1.2 GHz power extracting taps can deliver video, telephony, and data over the broadband hybrid fiber coax system. These taps have all the same features and performance as our standard Q-series FFT taps, including 12 ampere power passing and surge resiliency, but with the additional feature of power extracting for Cable Wi-Fi applications. The BTTF*-*Q taps extract power from the cable feeder and deliver it to the Cable Wi-Fi Access Point via the F-Port (Port 1, jumper selectable). RF signals are also distributed through the F-ports to the coaxial drop.

FFE 120**/RP 1.2 GHz Feederline Equalizer

The CommScope FFE Forward Feederline Equalizer is designed to compensate for feeder cable slope via 1.2 GHz pluggable cable equalizers. The 1.2 GHz FFE offers the optional ability to add return path attenuation for improved signal-to-noise performance and tighter gain variances. The equalizer circuit is contained in the same type of housing as CommScope’s SSP splitters, directional couplers, and power inserters. The FFE Forward Feederline Equalizer ships preconfigured with either 8 dB or 12 dB of forward equalization. The FFE supports frequency splits of 42/54 MHz, 65/85 MHz, and 85/102 MHz.

FFE 120 FB 1.2 GHz Full Band Forward Feederline Equalizer

The CommScope Full Band Forward Feederline Equalizer is now available to assist operators as they evolve their networks with expanded upstream bandwidth.

The Full Band FFE has no Diplex Filters that are frequency band dependent, so that once the FFE is installed it can support upstream bandwidth migrations from 42 MHz to 85 MHz and 204 MHz without the need to revisit the FFE location and change the faceplate.

This 1.2 GHz FFE is backward compatible with the previous version of Feederline Equalizers and uses the same housing as the SSP series of splitters, directional couplers, and power inserters.

The Full Band FFE is designed without plug-in equalizers; instead, the Faceplate contains a fixed circuit with either 0-dB, 8-dB, or 12-dB equalization. This ensures that the faceplate label always accurately reflects the correct equalizer value.

The Full Band FFE has no dedicated upstream path; therefore, there are no plug-in locations for attenuators.

CommScope STARLINE SSP-Q System Passives are available in a variety of configurations including directional couplers, balanced and unbalanced splitters, and power inserters. These AC power-passing, two-way devices operate within an RF passband of 1.2 GHz and are enclosed in die-cast 360 aluminum alloy housings that are equipped for strand and pedestal mounting. The SSP-Q series employs a swivel center conductor seizure mechanism and a rotatable faceplate to ensure that users can configure the units in a variety of input/output and RF/AC combinations. These features provide users with flexible installation options and reduce the need for cable loops. The SSP-Q series is also equipped with shorting bars which can be removed for power blocking or replaced with fuses as needed.

The CommScope Regal® RMT2120 1.2 GHz series equalizable taps offer improved return path performance for advanced two-way HFC systems while maintaining backward compatibility with the previous Regal installed base. In addition to mechanical backward compatibility to existing Regal tap housings, we now offer faceplate only options for plant upgrades. The faceplate only option allows the technician to easily upgrade an existing location with a simple faceplate change. This solution provides significant product cost savings, as well as reduced shipment cost, by eliminating unneeded extra housings being built and shipped.

Additional improvements over the existing family of Regal 1 GHz taps include the ability for drop signal conditioning with optional plug-in, field configurable modules that include cable equalizers, return path attenuators, and cable simulators. These plug-ins allow for drop signal conditioning without affecting the main feederline path. The Regal 1.2 GHz taps also come equipped with an auto-seize F-connector which improves system reliability by providing increased drop center conductor clamping force and a greater surface/contact area over standard F-connectors.

1.2 GHz System RF Passives

The CommScope Regal RL12 1.2 GHz System Passives are available in several configurations, including directional couplers, balanced and unbalanced splitters, and power inserters that maintain backward compatibility with a previously installed Regal base. In addition to mechanical backward compatibility with existing Regal passive housings, CommScope offers faceplate only options for cost-effective upgrades.

RL12 Passives are AC power-passing, two-way devices that operate within an RF passband of 1.2 GHz and are enclosed in die-cast 360 aluminum alloy housings. The housings are equipped for strand and pedestal mounting. These features provide end users with flexible installation options and reduce the need for cable loops. The RL12 series is also equipped with shorting bars which can be removed for power blocking or replaced with fuses as needed.
